RuinValor C# DX11.1 DX11 Voxel Minecraft Indie Indie Game
Dwarven Race I have recently started contracting out the concept work because I still do not have a drawpad. This is the most recent work fro our dwarven friends in our game. Let me know what you think as I am very eager to start working with the artist further and get some of the other character models in place.

In other news, we have recently started the process of setting up marching cubes. We have this process mostly complete but we are still unaware of whatever further complications this might present down the road. At the very least, our game will not have such a blocky feel to it; thus removing the "minecraft clone" comments. All we have letf to do now is get our shadows working and we will have a completed engine to bounce from. At times I wonder why we did not just use Unity but in the end this experience has been amazing and very worthwhile.

On a side note my team is looking to use Unity for our next venture.

it makes things much easier for sure. Now that we have an engine in place I dont think we will need another but if ever we make a game that doesnt work with our engine we will most likely look to use another. :P

Creating one's own engine is a huge task, but can have tons of advantages. The fact that you already have an engine up and working should show you the advantages.

We are looking at Unity because we are starting / branching into a new project.

Certainly it does come with such advantages, but as they say "with the good comes the bad". We could have had our game released and started on another if we had used unity. Seriously...

Plus with Unity the cross platform compatibility is awesome too.

Now that is a great piece of art. Of course all dwarfs are great :)
