Hello everyone,

in my first entry I want to introduce myself and explain what I am going to do.

1. Until now

I started to play around with game developement especially with XNA a long time ago. In this time I created on small projects which never got finished. For example the Quizgame, where question were read from XML-files. Here I learned the basic concepts of XNA.

In the following project I implemented some of the basic things which are needed for a Backgammongame. There is no AI and you can't really play a game. Here I tried to implement some Drag'n'Drop functionality.

In my last project I implemented a small Invaders clone. It is based on a picture I found somewhere on the internet.

Of course I wrote other small games but at the end of the day I kept jumping from one unfinished project to another. This leads me to the next Point.

2. What is this Journal for?

It is there in order to ensure that this time I will finish my project. Thereby the Journal entries should provide me and you with an overview over the project's progress. Of course some feedback would also give me the motivation and inspiration I need.

3. What now?

Well, right now I started to work on a topdown-strategy shooter. I am going to present you my ideas and first steps in my next entry.

Greets.

Good luck! Remember, scale that TDS down to its simplest element (probably shooting) and prototype that. My first finished game was a TDS as well, and I ended up winning first in a game design competition, mostly because my game was actually finished and polished.

Thank you!

I am actually still not sure if it is going to be topdown or more isometric :) I'm gonna write about it in my next entry.
