Project Updates
  • et1337 makes games - et1337 returns after a being bereft of internet since before Christmas. He updates on Lemma, showing off the new reporting system that lets people easily submit gameplay data to him for analysis in his editor. He also touches on improvements like new player textures and an attempt at SSAO
  • Undead Castle Dev Journal - afliii has more details on The Undead Castle including an excerpt of the story, a concept sketch and what the team is focusing on
  • Crawling with ideas - Mantis reports on his first week's worth of progress on the first of 12 games he'll be making over the course of this year, one each month. This month's game is a shooter
  • Chronicles of the Hieroglyph Posted Image- Jason Z has plenty of plans for Hieroglyph 3 in 2013 and shares them in his new year's update
  • Coding In Transit - Dancin_Fool is back with a couple of nice screens showing off progress made on his voxel earth project, which he's got rendering a planet from space and he is now working his way down to the surface details
  • Life at Demergo Studios - toddbluhm talks about a new project in the works over at Demergo Studios as well as the surprising return of an old game dev site
  • Merry Prankster Games - gdunbar has a new screenshot of 10FF with additional level rendering action
  • Aurioch's Journal - Aurioch has some new images and information on his project Battle City, a clone of the Namco NES game of the same name, in XNA
  • DMD 'Ware - polyfrag has several new videos and images of his iOS project Pathogen, including the actual intro video and a look at the map and sky box tools
  • Bluefirehawk's: "Project Phoenix" - Bluefirehawk explains why he's scrapping the design for Project: Phoenix and starting anew, and why that's not such a bad thing
  • The life of a Unity Developer - dtg108 has some Unity web player demos of new features for Not Dead Enough and also gives a rather detailed look at what could be the team's next project
Game Dev Stuffs
  • The Curiously Recurring Gimlet Pattern Posted Image- jwezorek has gone and written his own sprite packing library for Python, called pypacker and has the source online along with details on how it works in his journal
  • Lyost's Journal Posted Image- Lyost explains and shares source on how he used public and private headers when working on his D3D11 framework to create public entities within the library but keep them private to code outside the library
  • Shawn Hargreaves' Blog Posted Image- Shawn Hargreaves shares a wrapper developed by his colleague called SimpleMath, which is "a header file that wraps the DirectXMath SIMD vector/matrix math API with an easier to use C++ interface"
  • Sparked Studios Games - Matthewj234 works to backwards engineer some shader code to produce a mosaic effect on 2D sprites for lighting and details the process as well as sharing the final code
  • New Old Things - Endurion adds the next portal stage as a prelude to several smaller updates following in his Commodore64 game
