Posted by Gaiiden, in Weekend Reading 18 October 2013 · 420 views

Here are your Journal Land entries from the period of 10/11 - 10/18

Hello and welcome to new author Orymus3

Project Updates
  • Fran Bow, a point & click adventure - bladderbloat has a new video log up covering the game's involvement with the Steam Greenlight process
  • DMD 'Ware - polyfrag condenses his week of streaming consciousness into this entry. I think he might call it rambling
  • 2d Game Creation - JD_Rushing breaks down his implementation of a button object for his custom GUI
  • Night Lone's Journal - Night Lone has been making regular updates this past week on the work for his unnamed space project using C++ and Irrlicht
  • /* Why you crying? */ - JTippetts has been busy this past week as well on Goblinson Crusoe, with new lighting and shadows, particle effects, UI and reborn combat log
  • Squared'D's Journal - Squared'D has some new screenshots for Project B showing off some visual effects and also a video of the effects editor in action
  • RuinValor - Birth of Talos - riuthamus has some tasty eye candy in the form of new screens showing off RuinValor's environmental lighting
Game Dev Stuffs
  • Richards Software Ramblings - ericrrichards22 goes over skinning models with DX11 and Assimp.net based in part from the book Introduction to 3D Game Programming with Direct3D 11.0 by Frank Luna
  • Mikkel Staunsholm - staunsholm spent a few hours working up a basic game for the PUTT contest running in the Lounge that he may polish up later. It's playable with source available
  • The Bag of Holding - ApochPiQ muses on about what could be a better way to manage merging files in a huge (multi-million line) code base that is being constantly changed across multiple branches - he dubs the general idea "semantically-aware version control"
