GDC 2008 - just a few sessions left to summarize

Posted by , 03 March 2008 · 311 views

More GDC content is up:

Procedural Data Generation in FAR CRY 2

That was an interesting lesson in practial procedural methods. Highly recommended, intuitive but useful advice in there.

I've also posted:

The Inter-Species Game Design Challenge, my last session from 21 February.

Ian covered the Experimental Gameplay Sessions, and I don't have anything major to add there, so I'm not going to write that up.

Tomorrow night, I'll write up my sessions from 22 February, and that'll be the last of my content for GDC 2008. I hope you all enjoyed the writeups and blogs!

Graham

Nice to see some procedural stuff - I'm very interested in it since (funnily enough) playing Daggerfall all those years ago and wondering how the world was put together.
Nowadays I'm trying my hand at procedural aspects in my own game (ok 'remake') - a rather tricky problem of generating building layouts to provide defense and a realistic layout of structures on undulating terrain.
