Posted - 4/29/2005 3:58:30 AM | It's hard to believe that April is already almost over. 2005 is well underway, Star Wars release is a mere 21 days away. I'm an avid Star Wars fan. I have been sense I was eight years old and my uncle showed me RTJ for the first time. I suppose this could be hinted at by my current avatar. I just hope that it's impossible to screw up this newest addition.( The last two each had low and high points, but I believe that the style in which the stories were told, and the characters, and a lot of the acting could have been done better.) The ANNI-hilation(Get it?) of the Jedi order seems like it would be hard to screw up though. But then again, people are good at screwing up a lot of the time, so we'll just have to wait and see. There was a great Family Circus cartoon in the paper two Sundays ago. I would scan it, but I recently had a falling out with my scanner and we're no longer speaking. She's the one holding a grudge though, so I thought it best we go our seperate ways, I kicked her out and haven't heard from her since.
The comic strip went like this: There were a total of five cells I believe. The first one showed Anikin Skywalker and Padme talking Padme was sporting her look from episode one.
Padme : Now that we're married, I'm going back to my old hair style.
Anakin : NOOOOOOO!
The second cell showed Obi Wan and Anakin, Obi wan was handing Anakin a light sabre.
Obi Wan : The Jedi council has issued you a pink light sabre.
Anakin : NOOOOOOO!
The third cell showed Anakin and Jar Jar Binks ( I may want to mention that these were action figures in the hands of the eldest son of Family Circus).
Jar Jar : Me sa gon ta be ure padawan.
Anakin : NOOOOOO!
The fourth cell Showed Palpatine and Anakin.
Emperor: I promise I will never call you Ani.
Anakin : Hum..
In the fifth cell the father of the Family Circus walks in and looks at the two children playing with the action figures.
(Forgive me, I usually don't read paper comic strips, so I'm not familiar with the names of the characters.)
Oldest Son: We were just speculating over why Anakin turns to the darkside.
Funny huh?? No? Come on, it was hilarious.

 Inspiration |
Posted - 4/26/2005 4:48:10 PM | Music, it is a constant inspiration for me. While working, or durring liesure time, it seems music is always around. Recently, and for about the past year or so, while I'm working, I like to listen to game music. I have my own collection, but also find myself constantly listening to RPG Radio which constantly streams music from good ole RPG's 24 hours a day. I just thought that I would tell the world of the wonders, that such a place exists. It's a great place to get that RPG Music fix. Share the wealth, that's what I always say gov'ner.
I'm currious what everyone else out there is listening too these days as well.
I work in an Italian Restuarant as my day job. I haven't been yet today, but last night our computer system crashed. It's still down today, was the verdict when I called about an hour ago. On a given day, we probably deal with 2,000 to 3,000 guests. On a Tuesday, it's generally more. It's an interesting plot I think. Going back into a dark age, it should make for a fun filled night anyways. All the registers are a part of the comp. system, so we're having to take orders, and update inventory by hand, a real pain in the ass. Just imagine if the entire world had to do that for one day. There'd be a lot of ticked off people. I guess it's a good reason to keep up on your survival math, and not rely completely on our non-intelligent conter parts, too much. But then again, what would all the computers do, if we suddenly all failed??? Makes you think.. of stuff.. yep.

 The Ascension |
Posted - 4/25/2005 4:25:03 AM | Ok, that's rather annoying, I hate it when you spend ample amount of time writing a rather long post, and then, when you go to post it, BAM.. your suddenly logged out, or it doesn't get processed for some reason. Such is the essence of the universe I suppose, impermanence.
At any rate, my previous attempt at posting was introduction of myself, past, present and future, and consisted of quite a bit of writing. I guess it's kind of necessary, so I'll do it again, I generrally try to remember to copy my entries to the clip board before trying to submit them, but occasionally I forget to do so, and this is the result. Moving on..
I'm a twenty two year old writer and programmer who has been studying game design and programming independently for the last two years and eight months. In my first year I was learing VB as was the course outline that I was taking at a local trade school at the time. At that point I developed a text game demo with an interesting interface, and some original art work that was submitted by a great artist I was working with at the time. The game was based on a novel that I wrote as well and was called Chaos: The Illuminated ~Devastation.
In my second year, I created the foundation for an interactive narrative system. The core concepts being emmerging game play and a unique experience for each player, as well as realistic agents. This meaning NPC's would exist indepent of player stastis but the entire game world would respond yo Player interaction, as well as it's own entities objectives. I created a short demo with this as well in C++. Unfortunately the demo doesn't incorporate the use of the underlyging frame work, but is more of a simple example of the text parser I created and shows but a small amount of the game world. The game itself is intended for a mature audience, and is based on the concept of a young man in pursuit of some 50 ladies. The game world is a paridy of the town I currently reside in as well. This project is planned to continue and the frame work incorporated into a 3D engine. It's currently on the back burner however. The Project is Titled Conquest For Love, or C.F.L.
If you're interested in playing the text game C.F.L. you can find a copy of it at the link below. You must be over 17 years of age, and if you find graphic words, and or sexual situations offensive, please, do not play the game. Most of it is in good taste, however some of it is not. THis requires a Windows OS of 95 or greater, and is a simple console program.

Currently, I am working on a 2D game Engine and Editing Suite for a small production company I am apart of. This project is named Phoenix, and more information will be made available as soon as the Admin gets our servers back up. There are plans to release this software as open source in the future. The project just recently began production, after being in pre-production for approximately three months. Back too reading...

 Today: |
Posted - 4/24/2005 4:10:23 PM | Well, I decided to sign up for a GDNet+ account today to help get some additional exposure for myself and a few of my associates. Hopefully it turns out for the best. I am a bit frustrated however as I have to leave in a few minutes and there are a few settings that aren't working, even though some are. It may however take a little while for those settings to kick in, which hopefully is the case.
More Later..
