 Busy busy busy |
Posted - 9/20/2007 3:58:42 AM | I've been busy as hell with university, especially now that I'm tutoring new students (no idea if a similar system is in use elsewhere in the world). Spineless is not dead, my projects are not dead, I'm still really interested in the game project I just started, it's just that I don't have the time or energy after a day of partyi.. studying to work on anything else. Things should calm down a bit in a couple of weeks though. At least I hope they are. On the positive side, I have some really interesting courses on information visualization and hypermedia, which at the very least won't hurt my future work on games.
I just upgraded my computer with Core 2 Duo E6550, Radeon X1950 Pro and 2GB of memory. It's running really smooth (and quiet when not running heavy 3D), but for some reason Spineless font stuff is running really slow compared to my old Athlon XP 2500+ and Geforce 6600GT. I'll have to look into that, might have something to do with shaders too. Also, I got more money than I thought from my summer job, so I ordered a new hard drive for my iBook. It should be back in business next week, yay. :) Too bad I'll have to reinstall everything, but at least all the important stuff was on my desktop computer, backups and SVN.
In other news... Last Spring, an online friend and an ex-contributor to Spineless asked if I want to work for CCP, the developer of EVE Online, in Iceland. They were looking for programmers and he promised to recommend me if I wanted. At that point, I already had a job for the summer, and I didn't want to move abroad for even a few of months for a couple of reasons, one of which was that I'm still studying. I should, or at least I hope to get my Master's degree done in a few years, and I've been half-seriously considering applying for a position there at that time if it's still relevant. It would be really interesting since 1) I've never worked or even lived abroad 2) They're working (at least partly) with Python 3) I've never worked with games professionally.
I really hope to be back in business soon.

 Well, shit |
Posted - 9/13/2007 3:29:42 PM | My iBook just died, and I don't have the money to repair it. Oh well, at least I still have my desktop computer...
