Moved, Bugs, Murder Motel, Blog |

Yeah, didn't post for two months -- I moved to Vancouver last month. It's neat here, I like big cities.
(And if I ever have to get a real job in the games industry, I'm in the right place for it. Not that I especially want to work at EA Sports, but you know. ...They've got some swanky offices downtown, though from what I hear the actual grunts are out in the boonies.)
Been really busy with all kinds of things, most of which I can't post on here yet.
Dredmor
After a push, Dredmor seems to have stalled with my move and others' starting school again, though it seems to be just starting to trundle again. Here's a shot of two reports in the Mantis bug-tracker (which is very nice, I should add):

Top: When a certain scroll was read, the protagonist character would play the head exploding animation then the game would crash. I tell you, that is a scroll that should /not/ be read.
Bottom: I was promised a new office chair and didn't get it, so I reported it as a bug and assigned it to the responsible party (who is otherwise resistant to my goading). I received my chair and it is now serving me well. Huzzah!
Murder Motel
I finally finished the map tiles for Murder Motel; have a look at a little selection of them:

Two thoughts: The cars really remind me of GTA2. And I always draw things way too dark (what you see here are the uber-brightened versions of the tiles).
Started a blog
I finally jumped on the bandwagon and started a "real" blog -- I imagine the direction will be a bit more general and contain more inane commentary on this game media of ours rather than just development, as well as tangents into other art-type things, rather than so much just showing off work. Or maybe I'll just post the same stuff on each, eventually. We'll see. I almost said that I'd feel more compelled to write as if I was writing self-contained articles or essays, but I feel compelled to do that here already, to some extent.
I'll probably just post whatever I want, which I suppose is how it's supposed to be.

[I gotta tell you, it would be a beautiful thing if Gamedev.net had the features Wordpress does.]

BTW, clever thinking on the chair bug report.
