Corel and Bryce® 5 Sure to Make a Scene

I don't mind that this post is basically an ad, GameDev has to make its money somewhere, but couldn't it at least be more than a bullet-list of features that we can read about already on Corel's website? A more in-depth article talking about the features of Bryce 5, even if it was technically paid advertising, would be much more useful (not to mention much more likely to drive sales).

That bryce advertisement was not an article, please don't pretend it is an article. Maybe, bryce can be put on the sidebar as a featured product, but that was ridiculous. Save some of your dignity gamedev.net.

I agree with gmcbay. I personally think articles that REVIEW new software related to the game programming world is a good thing. However, you need to actually review it, not just list the features copied from the website.

Then again, if this is done for money, would the company pay money to hear you tell the bad points of their program?

I don't know the details of the deal Gamedev.net has with Corel.. but I know that this article was supplied to us by them. My only complaint is that it doesn't really do their software justice. They could have desparately used some screenshots for the article.

I hope they read this. They really need to work on showing off what Bryce can do on their site and especially in articles designed to garner the interest of game developers. This is the best constructive criticism I could give to them.

Tis a shame that gamedev has come to this. This is just an ad dressed up as an article. Doesn't gamedev have any pride in the stuff they put on their front page.
If I wanted to read rubbish like this, I would go to the corel site and read their advertising spiel.
Shame on you gamedev!
