 Character Animation with DirectX 8.0

I get the feeling that this guy doesn't know what he is talking about. For starters the whole wrapper class is lifted from the 'OpenGL Games Programming' book and all he has done is converted it to Direct3D.

Anyone who puts a comment in the code such as "Lets pray that noone ever asks how this function works" can hardly claim to be a good coder.

To be honest i think that it is astonishing that the owners of gamedev.net allowed this article to be posted seem as they wrote 'OpenGL Games Programming' and this person has done little more than copy their code.

I tried downloading and compiling the program and its missing files/errors anyway? Maybe cause im using 8.1.. Nor does it include an executable to just see the program?

Either way, a fair conversion, nice job -.

The sourcecode doesn't work, and it is commented in german. Nice.

This is fantastic! If you know roughly what you're doing and with a bit of tweaking you can get the demo project working. The only thing I had to do was add NULL as a second parameter to the D3DXComputeNormal calls and it compiled and functioned properly.

I integrated this (and code from the demo project) with Jim Adams code for handling objects world positions. I now have the ability to animate which is a great relief after spending AGES searching for animating X files etc

Gidday,
I have also used the code for Md2 Animation in my DX8.1 C++ Engine.
It works Great, Except, Going by Paul Nettle's MemoryManager, It(The actual Demo) has 1 memory leak. At the moment I cannot find out exactly where.
Have any of you Guys/Gals found this too, and if so, any luck targeting which "new" has'nt been "deleted"?
TakeCare.

Hi,
i had the same problem with compiling. than i filled the argument second (missing) argument with NULL. it compiles now but i only get a black screen no model and when i press esc the shutdown does not work prolly. The Desktop Resolution does not change back seems like the releases are not set correctly.

any working sample would be appreciated.
