Shader Programming Part III: Fundamentals of Pixel Shaders

Once again, high quality top notch material.

If this series does not become the de-facto online reference guide for shaders I will be very suprised.

If this is the quality of the material for online reference I can only imagine what your (eagerly awaited) book will be like.

This truly is a masterpiece and certainly going to be a great reference for Vertex/Pixel shader programming. Better than buying the Book..

I must agree, this is all very good stuff although from a critical point of view it has 2 problems:

- Its explanation of things are in detail but from a learning perspective a teacher would agree, things are not explained well and often to fast causing the learner to re-read and re-read and re-read.

- It assumes direct/indepth knowledge of the FFP of D3D and the whole pipeline itself. Skipping any direct explanations of references to a lot of it and yet explaining stuff unreleated to the vs/ps shaders. This is okay for someone who is emmersed in D3D.

Other important problems:

- On each page there are numerous spelling errors or awful syntax/grammer.

- The 3rd page of the first pixel shader article has a table for ps 1.1-1.3 outline on specular lighting but it actually is listing a table for ps1.4, the article continues to then explain ps1.4 with the same table and example...

Compliments:

On the other hand, this has been a GREAT article, detailed more than I needed. It has taught me three things, VS, PS and I do not know enough D3D yet. I couldn't have learned anything about VS/PS without this to start. Thank you very much and good job on flexing your knowledge muscle.

I have simple pointed out the problems in hopes you may correct it.
