Theres also Setup Factory. I like it a lot, it has a lot of good features. I never had a problem using it before. Just thought I would share in case someone didn't know about it.

BTW:
Nice article.

Not mentioned (that I saw anyway) in the article is "Inno Setup Compiler". Works great. Fast. Highly reccomended. Free!

I think a good follow-up would be to actually look at a number of those other install packages and give pros and cons for each of them. An unbiased feature comparison is a handy thing.

Thanks for the comments guys. I actually did mention Inno setup in my article, at the bottom mind you but it is there. A more in depth comparison between the other packages would definitely be nice. It's a fair amount of work as I would actually have to try all of them out. If there is demand for it perhaps I'll write a sequel to this article about that.

A few other packages people have mentioned to me is the MSI installer,

And VISE which I imagine is a take on WISE.

Another is QSetup, it's pretty simple with a nice GUI to make a package in a matter of minutes. It has all the basic needs (uninstaller, reg-setup, etc.). And best of all, if you're an independent software developer you get a free licens.
That allmost sounded like a sales pitch (I'm not in anyway connected to the company)
Anyway take a look at http://www.pantaray.com/.

The article more or less accurately describes the state of things around the late 90's, with winzip, installshield and similar tools.

I was surprised to see absolutely no mention of Microsoft's .msi file format. For the last few years they are recommending this as the best solution.
