 Recognition of Handwritten Gestures
Post Reply
That's pretty cool.

Opera also recognizes which direction you draw, and store it somewhat different probably, since you can for instance hold down your right mouse button, drag the mouse up, then down again, and releasing the mouse.. this guesture will cause the page to be reloaded in default settings.

However, this is probably achieved by describing vectors more than an image, but your article is good and make you think one step further to which extent you can come up with more clever ideas and implementations.

Albert

Cheers to Oleg for a very nice article.

It's always nice to see these kinds of articles (handles less common subjects, yet popular ones) on gamedev.

I was linked to a site about recognizing gestures, like in Black and White. It involves using a neural net to train with patterns, then using it to recognize patterns. However, it only recognizes one stroke at a time (can't click, release, draw another line), but I think it'd be quite useful for others reading this article.

I would love to play more games with no interface. It was the one (the only one) cool thing about Black and White.

Great article. I ended up showing it to some of my friends and they were equally impressed. Nice job.
