Excellent article. I think many of the rules apply to action games in general, instead of only platform games.

Me likes. I feel that this would make a good set of articles under 'general game theroy'. Lots of people could contribute without specific technical knowledge.

I liked it myself too. It featured game theory designs that should be obvious to most seasoned players, in a form that explains something that is in front of our faces. A position that makes it even harder to notice

Why, oh why didn't you write this a year ago? :D Now our platformer is nearing completion. Ohwell, I'll send this over to the level editor, it was an extremely interesting article. Getting the obstacle types broken down like that makes for a very powerful tool. Thanks a lot for your time!
