Tiff was mistaken for a booth babe? Classic

Anyway, nice coverage. Though I might have liked to see a little more about the games themselves... I know that this site is about developing games rather than playing them, but it's still useful to know about things like whether the market for WW2 games is about to be saturated, or whether there's something about to revolutionise the FPS genre, or whatever.

Plus, it's like we're forgetting about the end result of the development process

Yay, nice one guys ( and ouch on the hotel Tiffany, that sounds like a youth hostel I stayed in many years ago *shudder* ).

It was a bit on the short side, and as superpig said, focused on technical stuff, but I actually found it quite nice that way, it's easier to digest Also, as you said, there's a huge number of sites covering the thing in agonizing depth already. This was a nice presentation of what you found interesting ( with that seemingly required inclusion of booth babes ), which was also a rather nice ( and not-so-common ) approach to event reports. Wish I could have been there, but there's pesky things such as school, work and the slight problem of enormous cost to consider

There are SO many WW2 games, I think it is enough. I prefer games that has modern warfare, or ancient kind of warfare (RPGs, etc.).

edit: Oh no, not again. Wrong icon, again..

Well, I kind of alluded to this at the beginning of the article, but there are about a bazillion sites out there that cover the games at E3. GameSpy alone had 70 people there covering the show. (I was dismayed at how packed the press room was, compared to GDC or SIGGRAPH). I suppose we could send a bunch of people next year and try to cover the games, but that's not really our focus.

Really, my primary intent this year was to just scout it out to see how we should approach covering it in the future, if at all. I wasn't originally planning on writing anything, but after getting so many invitations (and follow ups) from companies who wanted to meet with me there, I felt obligated to write something.

We'll probably start covering E3 regularly, but it'll definitely be with a game development slant. There will be more detail in the future; I wasn't adequately prepared this time.

Oh, I'm not suggesting that we want complete in-depth coverage of all the games - as you say, there are other places we could get that information. But talking about the 'best of show' - the games with the largest crowds around them, or the ones that impressed you the most - and the games as a whole, would be appreciated, IMO. As the driving force behind one of the web's largest game dev websites, we do value your opinion, after all.

As I said originally, it just seems funny to write about E3 but not mention the games
