| The first MMORPG was in no way Meridian 59. MUD was the first MORPG (It was hardly massive.). Neverwinter Nights, and 1 or 2 others before that, were the very first. |

| He meant that Meridian 59 was the first game that most people would recognize as a MMORPG, based on the current perception of the genre. He even acknowledges in the article that other games preceded it. |
