In the days where markup language is popular and people love

<stuff>
more stuff
</stuff>

Why do they still insist on doing the equivalent of this

<if statement><


/if statement>

in the form

if(statement){
stuff
}

When :

if(statement)
{
stuff
}

is so much easier to read
