The theatric bit seems a bit odd. Put in context, that paragraph is talking about designer positions. I know a few designers with theatre backgrounds, but no design position I've ever seen available, internally or externally, has had theatre as any kind of deal-breaking criterion.

Communication, on the other hand, is absolutely essential. Game development, professionally, is almost always a team environment and if you cannot communicate effectively -- express your ideas, explain your problems, illustrate your thought process -- then you're not going to be a very useful member of the team.
