SHmUP Specific Dev Site Released

The site, www.shmup-dev.com , appears to be all about shooters. Although many of developers may be keen to Retro shooters such as Space Invaders, Galaxians, etc., this site appears to be focused on the more modern shooters to date.

With the casual market exploding into new possibilities, and the indie-gaming community continuing it's growth, Matt felt that it was important to put up a site that only focuses on one genre. Believe it or not, there are many shooters that come out each year, and although many don't get the publication, Matt does have plans to change this.

Matt's site is suppose to focus on Marketing Shoot 'Em Ups and uncovering all the portals and possibily building more portals that revolve around the shooter genre. While some say the Shooter Genre doesn't mix well into the overall casual juggernaut, Matt disagrees.

Matt feels that while many shooters could be considered hardcore, it's all about the fun-factor, the ease of use, and the graphical polish which seperates a hardcore shooter from a casual one.

The site's main premise is focused on mainly just developing shooters, and learning from each other on how to continue the innovation and evolution that this promising shootre genre has in store for the following years.

We all hope to see you at www.shmup-dev.com! Thanks and happy dev'ing for 2006!

I'm pretty sure that's a Phone/'Voice Mail' number.

Indeed. No way the site could have a more appropriate name.

Thanks to everyone who has visited.

According to our forum stats (which seem to be more conservative then the webalizer stats) - We've had about 30,000 hits in 7 days, We've had nearly 500 unique posts in 7 days, and We've gained 100 members. The first week has been very good. I'm glad that people are joining up, because I really think that this site could help push the shmup genre forward into a whole new level.

My goal is to bring a positive spin to shmup's by putting everyone that likes to make them together. We'll talk business, we'll network with each other, we'll help each other out, and in return the market will have better shmups on the shelves. With better shmups on the shelves, portals that are more into arcade / action games can expect more sales and everyone has nothing but benefit coming out of this.

If anyone is trying to improve the inventory of the casual market it is me!! ;) (I know just about everyone here wants to do the same thing, right?)
