After an extended break thanks to final exams/coursework/dissertation, I've got back to finishing off my remake of the Amiga classic Bugbomber. Those of you who've played it know it's not "just another bomberman clone", it was one of the best multiplayer games on the amiga IMHO! This is actually my first ever game (other than a simple tetris) and it's programmed in Cpp using DirectX.

Anyway, seeing as you probably won't have 4 people crowded around one PC most of the time, I've implemented bot AI for the other characters, as well as a few other minor additions, like energy powerups randomly spawning (yay).

This release only supports one player vs. 3 AI bots. Multiplayer (single PC) is working fine, I just need to add a frontscreen menu to choose the number of players. You get to be player 4 (yellow) thanks to a special feature (a bug that's since been fixed :D). The controls are using the arrow keys, right control and right shift keys. Please see the controls.txt file for more information (I know most of you aren't going to, then complain that you don't know what the crazy controls are).

Get it here!

The main thing I'm testing here is the "bot" AI for the other "player" characters, the rest of the stuff in the game is supposed to have really simple AI. So please let me know what you think, good and bad. Again, this is my first ever game (and non-trivial C++ app now that I think about it) so go easy on me :)

Oh yeah, when it's finished, it's freeware :D Can't decide whether to go open-source as well though.

Looks good. Reminds me of old Amiga games.

Hey thanks for this Rossguy, this has brought back so many memories of battling it out with my friends on the Amiga version!

I loved Bugbomber back then and have been looking for a PC version for ages.

Keep up the good work, would love to see how this progresses :D
