Hi, everyone, I'm here just to show you some screenshot of GLSL rendering technology. Hoping more people will love OpenGL, it's gentler and flexible. And I'm keeping doing more Demos in my spare time. It will be my pleasure to share them to you guys when they are done. http://358574108.qzone.qq.com |

| That parallax mapping demo is really cool. I'll have to try it in my own OGL engine. ravuya: [Website][Not Your Journal] |

| I agree, the parallax mapping looks great. :) Sincerely, Arto Ruotsalainen Dawn Bringer 3D - Tips & Tricks |

Looks good! ![]() Doesn't anyone else find it weird that 99% of people all use that texture for paralax mapping demos? It just makes it look like everyone elses work instead of something original. |

Quote: That texture was released along with the first parallax-mapping demo from the guy who implemented the technique in its current form(he named it offset mapping at the time). It's not easy making a heightmap that works well with parallax mapping('incorrect' heightmaps cause much more visible artifacts than plain bumpmapping), so I guess everyone just uses that. Looks great, btw! |

| Do you have an example to download? I would like to take a look at that grass shader if possible. I've been reasearching different fur-techniques with mixed results. Your grass looks like it could be on the right track for fur. Nice screens! |

Quote: Sorry, but it's not available now. The ideal of grass comes from "Rendering Countless Blades of Waving Grass" by Kurt Pelzer (Piranha Bytes) in the book GPU Gems. If you have any question on your further experience, I'm glad to discuss it with you. My email is lang_fox@msn.com. By the way, the GPU Gems and ShaderX serials are great. |

Quote: Thanks for your response! I know the GPU Gems series are great books. I've read a grass rendering article in GPU Gems 2 that seems quite optimized too. What kind of FPS are you getting out of your grass? Would it be practical for real game scenarios or is it too much of a speed hog? Do you have some closeup screens of the grass maybe? Does it look dense enough to be realistic at near distances. |

| Well, if you have the gems book, you could check the demo on the companied cd. With mipmapped and alpha blended texture, the grass looks great. However, the efficiency to sort the grass from back to front is very important. By far, I haven't got a great one. It hurts the performance very much, about 20% down. If you find a quick algorithm, please let me know. |

| Hi all, I'm new in shader's world and I'm trying to learn GLSL. I did some tutorial and I can say that I've understand enough. But now I have a problem. I want to do a shader that create a glow sun effect but I don't know how I can do this. I have my sphere in OpenGL and I need a shader that make it like a sun (with the glow all around it). I've found a shader (fragment and vertex) written in HLSL (from RenderMonkey). I tryed to translate it by myself and with the HLSL2GLSL (that convert it automatically) but in both cases it doesn't work and I can't see nothing. So, is there somemoby that can help me??? I'm despairing because I need this for my degree thesis. Please help me!!! I hope that my explanation is been clear enough. If you want to receive more information about what I've to do contact me and I'll give you some picture or the HLSL shader. I'll wait for your indispensable help. Charly |

| Hi, the glow effect is done by post image processing. You could check the glow demo from nVidia SDK, or "Real-Time Glow" from GPU Gems 1. |
