PopCap Games announces release of PopCap Framework 1.3

PopCap Games, the leading casual games developer, announces the release of its latest revision of the PopCap Framework. The latest engine release comes less than one week after the release of Peggle Deluxe and just in time for GDC '07. This release of the framework is the same technology used in the game, giving casual games developers the ability to harness the same power used there.

The framework is supported by a small developer community located at http://developer.popcap.com. Several PopCap engineers check the forums on a daily basis to provide support in casual games development using the framework.

The framework will be summarized and compared to other casual games technology at GDC during the Casual Games Summit 101 event on Monday, March 5th. Time will be available for the audience to pose questions to engineers presenting and in the audience.

Does this release still contain GPL code? Last time I downloaded this there was at least one source file under the GPL (and then relicensed under the popcap license).

The source in question (MTRand) was updated to use a newer version of the software that was re-released under another license that is not GPL. So, to briefly answer your question, no, it doesn't.

While it's almost for free but it's required other licenses such bass audio, fmod and j2k that aren't for free.
