| I think just calling a spacecraft after one of the elements is really pushing it. Say for instance I decide to nickname my characters "Crystal", "Pony" and "The Accountant" do you think that would pass? |

| the significant inclusion of the element is the small fight spacecraft...not the pony name you've slapped on it. you could name it anything you want...doesnt make it worth inclusion. Unless maybe the spacecraft was shaped like a horse, with individual thrusters that were leg shaped, and an elongated neck with the cockpit on the end...lol also worried about your use of economy as accounting. its hard to say if that will fly. economy is the act of trade accounting is the act of record keeping fundamentally different things i dont think being an accountant pilot with an inventory is very clever... but it may work. ambitious project, and i wish you luck :) [Edited by - mindrot on October 1, 2007 5:32:43 PM] |

| I don't know, making a spaceship and calling it a pony seems to go against the spirit of the competition. Unless the shapeship is shaped like a pony. Worked for Giraffes. |

| I'm truly shocked at the speed with which screenies appear in this contest. I'm no where near screenshot time, and I'm still nailed down ideas. Perhaps is a difference in a hands-on and just go with it approach to careful planning and then execution? Still, I'm amazed. | Today I incorporated my swarm engine. If it works as wished, spacecrafts can fly in formation, avoid obstacles, use waypoints and attack without scripting or other stuff. Everything is ODE driven... Well, thats the theory. Right now there is a severe memory leak, the stiffness and damping coefficients have to be optimized, influence spheres have to be added and tons of other stuff. But if everything works fine, there are going to be some nice space battles with about 256 different spacerafts from 4 factions with each 4 different vehicle types. What you see on the screeny is a pack of ODE nodes connected to each other. Sorry for the less quality. ![]() |

Incorporated my mesh loader. And guys, I hate (!) OpenGL picking. There is nothing, which I understand less than the behaviour of the picking matrix return values, grrr.![]() |

Just finished the 4th of 5 space station meshes. you can see them untextured in the 4 screens. Incorporated the render to texture function to see the clicked object in the HUD. Am really tired now. Vacation is over, process will slow down now - unfortunately...![]() |

| Work on spaceship class started. From now on the pony is included at least as const char *. Head up display with advanced features upgraded and the player spaceship state values are now visible (i.e. velocity change, hyperdrive charge, shield, structure). ![]() |

| Lots of code updates during the last week. No really big visible progress, but the logbook, which has first options to browse planets and bases and will be enhanced with quests, player stats, cargo, ships and weapons. | I feel myself so little. My team mate finished his work on the quest class. Well, his code is kinda top level c++. - My code is a piece of shit against it... But hey, we now have a custamizable solar system with planets and space stations coming from text files and in addition (*proudly presents*) we have a customizable quest system with quests coming also from text files (if I understand how to trigger the quest class instances correctly). Remeber "WC Secret Missions"? No problems with this from now on. Keep on rocking, dudes. We meet in space. |

| This is the result of my whole evening: Finding a tool to create movies on Ubuntu, understanding the interface, casting from ogg to avi and uploading it.
