Crysis' model

Crysis' model, lighting only

Far Cry's model

Funny Lab's model

Yu Chi's model

Also Yu Chi's model

Hi guys, here are some new screenshots of LynxEngine. During the last 6 months, I didn't do much rendering stuff. I only added deferred shading and improved SSAO quality.

I found a tool can export Crysis' model yesterday so I tried using Crysis' model to test my deferred shading engine and it looks good. I also post few lighting test screenshots which you can see the improved SSAO.

For the video clip, you can go to LynxEngine project page or youtube.

Why is everything blurry?
Other than that, looks great :-D

Good work mate.

The poster may correct me if he feels it necessary, but I believe that was the intended effect. Most engines, graphic or total game, seem to do blurring any more, especially for renders.

Yeah, but... why? These are extremely impressive shots, but the excessive blur makes it lose some of its grandeur. It seems like an extremely strong depth of field or something, like I need to correct it by wearing a pair of glasses.

Anyway, good work! I'm definitely impressed with these shots (and your past shots of the LynxEngine). But you may want to consider deblurring some of it.

I believe it's a Bloom effect which some people think makes it look more photorealistic.

Personally, I believe the effect is overused more often than not... after all, in a real photograph, bloom effects are only visible on overbright areas of the photo, not everywhere.

This is definitely overused here. Like having the eyes full of tears. Other than that, really good shots!

I know the DOF effect of the screenshots are overused for some people and it's totally my fault because I personally love minimal DOF when taking pictures :P

Anyway, the DOF is adjustable so it can be not so blurred. And you also can adjust the animation keys of DOF effect(focus distance) in LynxEd to achive the focusing effect like the normal camcorders do.

Looks awesome way more than I would ever have the time or be able to accomplish, but way overdose the bloom (at least the blurring is too intense), and it might just be because they're still images but there's quit a bit of aliasing.

And that is why I have the "Realistic Rendering" link in my signature. But good shots man! As long as the DOF isn't that strong during gameplay I'm ok with it

Wow! simply beautiful, I loved the screen shots and movies. Will this engine be open source? Also will you release a demo? I would love to run this on my computer. Excellent AAA quality work!

The "Realistic Rendering" link is hilarious. Sad but true!

Great job by the way.

can you tell something about your SSAO technique, I am working on different approaches but haven't found a reasonable compromise between qualitiy and performance

See this thread [http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/topic.asp?topic_id=463075], I use pretty much the same algorithm Inigo Quilez mentioned in this thread with a little modification.

Excellent models!
