New version of Maze3DFlyer

While perusing the comments of the previous post I discovered this comment from "larsh":

I just released a new version yesterday, v. 1.5.

Biggest changes:

  • Show maze as it's being generated (fun to watch). Blue = the queue of cells from which the maze is to expand. Red = cells that are marked "forbidden" for growth because they are too close to other passages.

  • Rather than just finding the route from entrance to exit, you now need to collect all the white balls on the way. More challenging and involving. (Theoretically this is an optional mode, but at the moment I haven't implemented a way to turn it off without recompiling.)

  • See-through grates give some visibility in/out of maze.

  • You can press 'R' and it will show you the route from entrance to exit.

  • Many other tweaks.

Check it out!

Despite many downloads Lars hasn't seen many comments so if you try the program, give him some feedback by commenting on this news post!

For those of you running Ubuntu - this game works perfectly under Wine!

Luke, thanks for the plug!
Hope somebody enjoys the maze thing. And let me know what you'd like to see in it.

I just checked this out and have a couple of recommendations.

The controls feel awkward. I noticed that I can only move along one axis at a time. It would be nice to have options for faster movement - including a mouse sensitivity setting.

Also, this may be an issue with Windows 7, but when I full screen the game it removes all the textures and everything is white with outlines. The game has to be closed and restarted to get the textures back.

Other than that it's a really cool game to waste some time with.

Lars, I also noticed this but figured it might be something to do with Wine. It looks like the textures aren't reloaded when the context is recreated.

Thunderdan,
Thanks for taking time to comment.

Re: one axis at a time... If I understand correctly, you're saying you can't hold down e.g. 'A' and 'W' at the same time and go forward-left?
OK, I will look into that.

Re: mouse (and keyboard) sensitivity settings -- I had given that some thought, but now that I have feedback I will have more motivation to work on it.

Re: losing textures when switching to full screen -- yeah, I'd noticed that recently (in native Windows). So I guess the program should reload textures after switching to full screen? I'll put all three of these on the issue list...
