| Beware young developers in search of a job, Tim Langdell is trying to recruit you! Those who have followed the saga of Edge Games and Tim Langdell know that Langdell is desperately attempting to demonstrate to the USPTO that his company is active in order to avoid losing his fraudulently-obtained trademarks. Publisher EA is currently working to have those trademarks cancelled and, if there is justice in the world, EA will succeed. | If he is hiring just to port Bobby Bearing to iPhone then it doesn't sound like a great opportunity for a budding game developer. However, if the racers game he claims is in development is actually being put on consoles such as PS3 and 360 (and he has the licenses and kits to do it) then I reckon it is definitely worth applying if you are on the lookout for a job. Chances are he is indeed just porting old games to iPhone to make some quick cash, and there is zero work being done on consoles, but that isn't a reason to not apply and potentially get an interview. Then you could see for yourself what he has in development and make an informed decision instead of avoiding him like the plague based on the hatred he receives on the internet. | Go to Linkedin.com. If you work in the games industry (or want to work in it) and don't yet have a profile, by all means create one. Linkedin is a huge worldwide network with over 50 million registered users and is a fantastic tool to help build your network and drive your career or find a new job. If you've got a Linkedin account, look at one of your connections' profiles. If they provide a work history, there will be links to the companies they worked at just below the title they held at that company. If you click on the company name, you can see everyone else on Linkedin who is currently working or has ever worked there. Searching for "EDGE Games" will get you everyone who uses the word "edge" OR "games" anywhere in their profile so it's not very effective. This is because "edge" and "games" are exceedingly common words, unlike, for example, "nintendo" or "mobigames". Here's a better way: if you are logged in, you can view Tim Langdell's full profile (http://www.linkedin.com/pub/tim-langdell/4/4a3/5a7). Scroll down to his entry as Chairman, Edge Games. Click on the "Edge Games" link below the word "Chairman" to see who else is currently working or has ever worked there. It is also possible that no other past or present Edge Games employees anywhere in the world have profiles on Linkedin, though for a span of 30 years of albeit dubious business, that seems very unlikely. This leaves us with the final, most likely conclusion: that Edge Games is a one man operation. That is to say that Tim Langdell == Edge Games, Inc. Of course, if I'd worked for Edge Games I'd be too ashamed to admit it too. ;) (I didn't.) |

Apparently, the spyware issue was an in-game ad bot designed to create region-specific ads to "increase the realism" of the games. They made an announcement that they were going to be doing that ahead of time, so I have no real problem with that. And as far as them putting out "one crappy game after another", that is a matter of opinion. I am not a big sports fan, nor do I play many console games, so I am not very familiar with many of their games in the last few years, but they tend to do quite well. |

| I'm leery of anything on Craigs LIst. (Photography scams are big on there) now I see its game dev scams too. This guy sounds like a Primerica sort of deal. You develop stuff for him and he takes the money and doesnt pay you. |

| I've seen a lot of modeling gigs advertised on Craigslist. That could be what he's talking about. Also, pretty much anything having to do with data entry. |
