In this release, we go over some of the more unique Materials and workflow principles. We start by covering "Parent" materials, also known as Material Instances, to help you build a master shader usable with ALL of your materials and save you an immense amount of time in the long run!
We cover flipbooks and basic animated textures, then dive into importing and using a "real" video clip as we discuss using Bink movies on materials so you can add an actual video to a material inside of UDK! We also take you through the principles of of using Opacity on your materials, then dive into an extremely complex -- but amazingly awesome -- animated billboard!
Bill Kladis has made a career specializing in VFX for games. With over 6 years of game experience, he currently works at IllFonic in Denver. Titles he's worked on include Mortal Kombat, Batman: Arkam City Lockdown (iOS), Injustice: Gods Among Us, Lego Universe, and PAIN. He also runs imbueFX.com, a training and outsourcing site dedicated entirely to VFX in games.
