okay so my initial moment of glee was premature. I was originally right with the alpha/beta and by flipping them I just returned all original moves and my program got lucky and randomly picked the best spot fort my test :S
though removing a good chunk of my extra variables my program is now doing the 17k or so nodes in 7 seconds (really not sure how this happened, I'm positive I didn't change my code that much). Though still not getting any pruning :S not sure what I did wrong.

So yeah after flipping the negative on alpha and beta I'm getting
Depth 4
Nodes 524
Time 22.5 seconds
Getting closer.
Need to redo my evaluation function though. I'm finding 2 AI players don't want to move at the start and just keep placing walls.
edit: nm that is just one of my best moves. Forgot my program returns a list of the best ones and not just the first/last best move found.
