anyone that has a double-card laptop needs to change this for themselves
usually with a dedicated keyboard button, or a program that comes with the computer

as for using profiles, i think that is for convinience mostly..
perhaps the most common games out there get a dedicated profile that comes with your drivers

i think this is something that you'll have to consult your laptops makers manuals for
it's been a while since i have seen a game able to change which card i am to use (can they?)
back in the day, it used to be the rasterizers you could choose from.. software, opengl, directx

sometimes there can be a hotkey on your keyboard or a program to change from power-saving to power-using
if not, the only other thing i can think of is specifically asking for a CORE 4.x opengl context, but i don't see how that would change the card
