to get whats the lowest alpha value in a texture

I want to know how is the fastest way
to get whats the lowest alpha value in a texture with name LARA

the method i had was using a drawInstanced with a render target of 1 pixel of texture1X1 called RUFU, each intancedraw reads 1 different pixel in the texture LARA and renders the alpha to the pixel of texture RUFU and replaces it depending on how big is the value that is already there(just like when rendering to depht stencil). The problem is i just discovered its slow, i am drawing 1000 intaces and it takes a little more than a half of a second.

SOo is there any one that knows a faster way to do this?
