Do I understand correctly that you are rendering the sloanfont.DrawString to the 128-bit rendertarget?

Maybe your source material is only 8-bit, ie. the font texture and the color?

Otherwise, can you confirm that your shader is outputting values correctly? I mean, I don't understand exactly the syntax you use for rendering to a rendertarget since I'm not a VB pro.
