Hi all. Just casually calling out to anyone that might be interested in the same thing. (Indie game dev can be quite lonely)

Hi all. Just casually calling out to anyone that might be interested in the same thing. (Indie game dev can be quite lonely)
I consider myself a fairly competent programmer for a 27-year-old in Taiwan and recently quit all jobs because corporate culture is making me sick. I apologize if I'm offending anyone but I'm sure anyone in the working class can understand. I don't feel I'm improving much anymore in the area of programming and having saved a bit of money, I figured I should do something interesting for once: develop a game!
I'm not sure if I posted in the appropriate place, but I was wondering if anyone might have similar stylistic preferences and might be interested in sharing ideas or possibly collaborating.
Being Taiwanese, I naturally watched a lot of Hong Kong movies as a kid such as Wu Xia style and kung fu ones. I also played a lot of computer games ranging from action to RPG (Street Fighter, Mega Man, and Bioware RPG's to name a few). I was thinking of creating something like a fighting game with a theme similar to classic Hong Kong style kung fu movies, since there's not much out there of that style.
I prefer to hand-paint my games (tablet and all), such as the shmup prototype I made shown below.

The prototype was built on top of a 2D game engine that I ported to several platforms: win32, linux, Android, several embedded linux set-top-boxes.
Well, that's me. If I've triggered any ideas, please let me know here or at jesil527[at]gmail[dot]com.
