My engine is from-scratch too.  I don’t see how that is related to the Autodesk® FBX® SDK.

You are aware that it is wrong to import directly into your engine from .DAE, .MAX, .3DS, .FBX, etc., right?

You are supposed to make converters from these to your own custom format and then load that by your engine.
