This was my first programming book and it was easy to understand. Recommended to anyone starting C or getting into programming.
If you are learning C, grab this book if you ever find it. Though dated, it is one of the best friendly programming book you can find out there.

Written by the same author who wrote "Programming QBasic By Example", this book explains the basic concepts of programming with suitable dose of humour. It cover the basics of C - printf, scanf, arrays, pointers and structures in an easy to understand manner. The only problem is that this book may be hard to find nowadays.
A great, great book. You really don't need to know anything about C to understand it. The writer explains functions, variables, pointers - everything you need to know. I recommend you buy this and then a C++ book once you have learnt the basics.
