Currently reading through this book, Its rather friendly and provides you with code to help you program the examples used in the book - you start by making a few simple programs such as a hello world program, a timer, a guessing game and a maths quiz before you start making games!

The first few projects are called Dice War, Block Buster and Tic-Tac-Toe which you program in the 3rd chapter before you get introduced to GDI+. I havn't read much of this book however its a good read and rather educational.
