Kot in Action Creative Artel is opening its doors to 3rd party game developers

by zratchet

An Open Letter to the Independent Developer Community and Press.

Attention all Indies:

Steel Storm, the premier franchise by Kot in Action Creative Artel, is opening its doors to 3rd party (including indie) game developers.

Steel Storm: Burning Retribution is a top down action shooter with old school spirit. It marks the return of top-down shooters with new twists. The game has score oriented competitive gameplay, and is designed for people who like fast paced action, hordes of smart enemies, destructible worlds and ground shaking explosions.

We see an opportunity to bring Steel Storm to other genres and platforms and artistic/media formats, but we are working on new games (See our blog at http://kot-in-action.com for details on these!) and cannot split our time between two major projects. Therefore we look to other game developers to keep the torch moving.

Keep reading after the jump for more information!

The Daily GameDev.net

by Ravuya

It's a new Monday. Since Canada Post broke with tradition and inexplicably delivered my 3DS on a Sunday, I've been gawping at the thing and trying to figure out how they managed to cram in a ViewMaster and still have a decent frame rate.

Looks like Thrashball will return in the new Gears of War beta, and they might also not include one of those stupid DLC "Online Passes." I bought Shift 2 last week, and not only did I have to enter a 12-character registration key but login to the EA network and then manually tell the game that I had bought other games as well. I'm pretty sure that at this point, I would prefer a code wheel or maybe a manual that asks for the displacement of various years of Corvette.

There's a lot of Mass Effect 3 information in this article. Are there spoilers? I can't tell you, because I don't myself want to be spoiled. There will apparently also be an animated Mass Effect feature film at some point in the future.

There's more after this......

Happy hump day! Hope you all had a good one and are now ready for the downward slide to the weekend. Slides are fun!

What's on tap for today? Well Sony Online Entertainment lead another large week of layoffs, but just like how death propagates life in nature, many new studios also came into being this past week as well to help maintain the balance. Voting has been extended for people to select what video games will appear in a 2012 exhibit at the Smithsonian. Interested in scholarships? Two are ready for applicants and winners of the first annual STEM Video Game Challenge has also been announced. There's a new XDK, the Aussies are balking on R18+ once again it seems, and - wait it's not April 1st anymore right? - a new Commodore 64 is coming soon....
