Welcome to the Hands-On Interactive Game Development Tutorial! This series of tutorials takes a progressive, intensive, and interactive approach at learning how to develop games. Progressive - We start from square one. If you are new to game development, then you've come to the right place. Our main goal is to learn how to make games by actually making them. Starting with the basics, we will gradually increase the complexity of the games we explore and create, while our skill in approaching game-related programming challenges increases as well. Intensive - Every project in this series is tackled from the ground-up, and every aspect of game development is covered. If we want to gain any proficiency in this lifetime, we're going to have to move quickly, which makes demands on our time and level of determination. Interactive - The best way to learn is by doing, and everyone will be asked to contribute some of their mental energy to the task(s) at hand. Algorithms need to be designed, code needs to be implemented and optimized, and inertia needs to drive the projects contained in this forum. If you really want to gain anything from this series, you need to take one step forward. The tutorial itself is available in the Discussion Forums and is entitled "Hands-On Game Development". You are strongly advised to consult the topic "START HERE" if this is your first visit, as it contains vital information on understanding the layout of the forum. This is serious business, folks. You need to be capable and self-confident through real experience if you intend to take this little hobby of yours seriousely -- collecting tutorials and code snippets isn't going to cut it. Now is your chance to make a commitment to something that requires more than a passing effort, and reap the rewards that hard work brings. I'll see you in the forum. Tim Boston
