Does anyone know what format files end with a .a01 extension. Also where would I be able to get the program to decompress them? Pleas someone help.

I believe that would be ACE compression. You can get WinAce to decompress them here:

Its ARJ of course !!, come on people, you cant be forgetting it already, windows has been seriously around for like couple of years and people dont remember any of old basics ..
ARJ makes .a01 .a02 and so forth for multiple volumes of archive, original(first) archive has .arj extension
unpak with :
arj x -va (archivename)
winrar should be able to unpak them as well ...

Thanks for your help. I never used arj much but thats just an excuse. Cheers anyway.

I''m sorry, I was a bit confused. *.aXX is ARJ compression; it''s ust that WinAce can decompress it. Again, sorry if I mislead someone.
