2d ops using DDraw , not using Direct3d
First I would like to apologize for i am not writing about 3d stuff, but doing same thing using 2d engine, but does any of you have routine sketch of solution etc concerning doing fade ins, alpha blending and similar things using that method:
Lock(blah);
here we call your routine on ddsd.lpSurface
Unlock(blah);
I am doing it the slow and not pretty way:
I generate some frames with deeper and deeper fade and then show them one after one, that gives pretty effect but it takes much time for calculating frames and sizeof(screen)*numscreens memory.
Has anyone got a better way document, anything on doing alpha transparency,transcluency similar effects on pure pixels?

Check out www.nukesoftware.dk and look for their NukeDX libraries. They have some routines for drawing alpha blending - and fades.
