How could I portray insanity & strangeness in a logo?

I assume you used Noise+Motion Blur for your background ?
A nice texture effect is if you use a *very* big value for the motion blur. You get something that looks like brushed steel, if you choose your colours right and work on the brightness/contrast.

I promise I''ll post an example myself when I get access to Photoshop later today

Btw, i gotta try that suggestion of yours.
You know a word I associate with insanity? Chaos. The further away you can get from order and civility, the better. Seen Lord of the Rings? When Frodo puts on the ring, chaos takes over. Might be an idea...

My opinion is a recombination and regurgitation of the opinions of those around me. I bring nothing new to the table, and as such, can be safely ignored.[ Useful things - Firefox | GLee | Boost | DevIL ]
It''s too contrived.

You need a face to properly convey insanity - something like the face Nicholson makes in The Shining:

I agree, but I have a hard time having it chaotic and still feel anything like ''insane''. Its hard to find the right balance.

I disagree, and I don''t intend to put a face or any other image from something else in there. If I can''t hand draw it or make it using filters, effects, blending modes, etc I don''t want to put it in.
