PSX... (from where that X come from???)
everyone know that the psx ( this x is weird...) make that terrible texture distortion, but there anyone here that know what make that happens??
and there someone that know about that "x" factor too?
-avoid accidents, do on purpose
that "x" probably came from where the "x" for directX came from

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind

I was going to say that when I saw this post too, pouya!
I think the might be a placeholder. Look at all of the other systems: NES, SNES, N64, SEGA, 3D0... wouldn''t you feel bad if your system only had TWO initials?

Yeah, the ''X'' is probably there just because X is basically the coolest letter in the English alphabet
If you code it, they will come...

Not to burst anybody''s bubble but I am pretty sure that it stands for "tion" at the ends of words.
In first year Chemistry a standard was "rx" for reaction. So a Playstation would be psx.
Not sure if this still applies to DirectX, though it could be Direction

Why''d you have to go and make sense?!?!?!
Just kidding.

Just a wild guess:
The PSX doesn''t use perspective correct texture mapping?
That deserves a lol and a half.
The PSX was used as the name while it was in development i think, or atleast something that contained X. And it just kindof stuck around, i guess people thought PS on its own would get confused with PC or something like that.
DirectX is probably called DirectX because it gives you DIRECT access to hardware and the X can be replaced with the various API´s (SOUND, DRAW, 3D etc.....).
