advanced vc help needed!
i''ve got a problem with a program i''m trying to write a patch for...
it is listed in the system registry in RunServices to run on bootup, but when a user logs in then logs out, it kills the program and doesn''t load again when the user logs back in. does anyone know how to keep a program resident during log-in log-outs?
thanks for any help!
david
well there are many ways to keep a program resident. you can just not terminate the program when the user logs out. when the program is loaded again it will attempt to create another instance and you can bring up the old program again which is still running in the background. or just minimize the program to the system tray when the user logs out and to log back in the user can click on the icon on the system tray.
hope this help a little.

well, you see, that is the problem. when the user logs out, windows terminates my program. i don''t know why it does that, but i have to run a new one every time i log back in. if i knew of a way to make my program stay resident, i''d try it.
thanks for the help, though...

If the the program is just a regular .exe and you are running on Windows 9x, your pretty much out of luck (as far as I am aware). If you''re app is running on a Windows NT derivative, you can make it into a service, and you could make that continue to run regardless of who is logged into the machine. It can even be started without anyone logging into the machine.
