How do I make a background....
I was wondering how I would go about creating a background using a texture (in this case a star texture, I''m trying to make a little 3d space sim...
How would I tile the texture so that it is all around me...

Using D3D btw.
Do you have an good Algorithm that distributes the Texture Coordinates over the Sphere, without to much streching ?
If not you need to draw your Texture spherical, and it is also problematic to use an tiled Texture. It also gives you an Extra Level of Overdraw, which costs you some Fillrate.
But if you got such an Algorithm, please share it with me, i can''t get some texturing Features working...
It might sound crazy, but i use an 3D Starfield with about 2000 Stars, and nearly costs nothing to compute them. But it has the disadvantage not having any Nebulas or Galaxys. You have to put those Things in as Textured Quads.
