I'm scared

I really don't know why I tell you guys this, but I don't know where else I should go with it: The world is a bad place. Innocence died a long time ago, and nobody seems to miss it. People around me are starting to get mad; just a few days ago, someone in my age was brutally murdered (his stomach has been sliced open) on a festival, and a girl got raped there. People I know since I went to kindergarden with them are taking drugs and hang around with criminals, with people who have been to jail because they beat up someone or dealt drugs. Little, innocent children in the age of ten adore Rappers, think they are cool because they shoot people; they watch "KIDS" and think that's the way to go and start smoking pot. Their young brains are being washed by TV, commerce and wrong ideals; they don't see a reason not to hurt another person, because they have lost their feelings, and they have never seen any beautiful in their life, such as art. Formerly intelligent persons, friends of mine, are drinking their brains away and get assimilated (I don't like Star Trek, I use this word because it just fits). When I look around in the next city, I see a big herd of stupid animals, obeying whatever they are told by the medias, following every leader blindly, buying everything they are told to with joy; violence is everywhere, minds are being raped just like real persons. And guess where I live? In New York? In L.A.? No, I live in Austria, a rich country in middle-europe, in a relatively small village, near to a small town, which attracts a lot of tourists all over the year because of it's baroque flair. I hate it, and it's getting worse all the time; now you can't go outside at night on a weekend, because you are in danger of getting beaten up; and this in A SMALL TOWN! I love life, but I feel only disgust for what people around me think is life. Edited by - Roderik on 6/15/00 2:11:52 PM

Powerful words...I wholeheartedly agree with you. You''ve basically said it all, and I really don''t know what''s happening all around the world to today''s society. It''s frightening.

I agree with you. The world is indeed heading downhill, only getting worse as time passes. The media and other influences do nothing to stop it either. It''s tragic, and something''s gonna have to give sometime...
Same words, different area,

I grew up in a small town just outside of Yosemite National park, right in the middle of california. It was a small logging town, no bigger than a city block. And it was there that I almost lost my sole. I''ve seen girls barely 13 smoking crack (literaly), and someone I knew, a real churchgoing person, had a son who stole a police boat. He''s currently in jail for subsence abuse. He was running around the rooftops of a trailer park screaming that he was covered in rats. I attended college in fresno, CA. It was there that real shit went on. One night I allmost got shot by three different people. Another time a friend and I got chased up a building by a crazy knife weilding guy. On campus, some girl got gang raped a day before I started attending. Some guy I went to high school with tripped out on acid one night and tried to stab his sister. A pastor saw this and shot him dead. I think a fourth of my graduating class is dead. But this is nothing new under the sun. This has been going on since the begining of time. The westward expantion of the U.S., The roman empire, and so on. Take a look at the Hanarabi code(sp?) and try to see what life in mesopotamia(sp?) was like. All you really can do is not get into it yourself. Try to help your friends, but don''t let them take you down with them. Missery loves company.

Why is it called a hot water heater? Isn't it cold when it goes in the tank?

It''s a world ruled by greed. Everybody''s out doing for themselves and squashing others in their way. The media want fame... they get it by exploitation... Businesses want money... they get it by any means necessary... ever look at a guide to business book? They''re more like manuals of war... I used to live in neighborhoods where people would leave the doors unlocked when they were away from home... Now you''d be lucky to find a door unlocked when people are home. The world is being run by mindless drones seeking only money and fame... any fame... wether it be good or bad. Ignorance is rampid, and stupidity the norm. I''m scared of the world, and I''m scared for the world.

what does it matter? in a couple hundred of years the planet is gonna be so full of trash and smog that we''re all gonna die anyway. i just thought that i''d brighten the day fo you all

but anyway, you all know about the theory of evolution, right?
well, sometimes i think that we went from a single-celled-organism, to a bunch of intelligent humans, and now we''re on a water slide back down to the one-cell-per-brain thing.

Good thing you notice! Not everybody sees these things! There are a lot of very stupid people out there.

The problem is more and more is being accepted as normal.
This is not a bad thing, if these things were only good things.

But you can''t say: to a murderer it''s oke you killed a few - you can''t help your mother didn''t like you...isn''t there any morale anymore?

Only thing you can do is give a good example. Not everybody is as smart as you to see this! People will see and follow!
Agression comes from fear, so why not help these scared lost people a little?

Kinda makes me wonder why I try to make my games so realistic, when reality sucks so bad. But then I go out into a huge park, barefoot, with a knife, and sit on a rock by a stream in a sunny spot, whittling at a stick. I have a Mark Twain moment. The world may suck, but reality can''t be everywhere at once, right?

Oh, and then there''s love. That counts for something, right?

Yeah, you''re absolutely right, Landfish; life ain''t that bad, only the people are.
