If you''re using windows then I HIGHLY recommend Network Programming for Windows by Microsoft Press. It will take you all the way from the basics to advanced designs. I''m going to post a network programming tutorial on my site the next time I get the chance. Probably in a week or so... Do a search on winsock tutorials on Yahoo and a few good ones will come up.
Good luck, network programming is very cool.
