Windows 98 Setup
When I bought my computer I got a Windows 98 OEM CD with it. Now I want to format my HD and reinstall it (due to some reasons), but there are two setup files....
I checked my bootdisk, it launches a file called "oemsetup.exe", but there''s also a file called "setup.exe". When I checked for some advice from various www-sites, no one mentioned anything about any "oemsetup.exe", just "setup". So what''s the difference between them and which one should I run? Does it make my install of Windows 98 any different?
Hi!
I guess the oemsetup.exe must be a special exe to configure all your hardware - motherboard, sound card if integrated with the motherboard, the bios,etc..- And possibly this file will launch the setup.exe in your cd.
Although I may be wrong =), in any case win98 - setup.exe- will try to install all the drivers for your computer and peripherics.
Laters!

go to start-settings-control panel-add/remove programs.
one of the tabs at the top is ''startup disk''
make one
boot up using the disk
it will install a ramdrive so whatever your normal CD drive is will be bumped up a letter. Mine is normally drive E so it is F when I use a win98 boot disk
so if your cd-drive is normally d type e:
then type ''setup''
you should be good from there
I dunno what this oemsetup is, but that is what I always do
hope that helps/wasn''t so simplified as to be insulting (but how do I know how much you know, yah know?)
