motherboard and videocard conflict

Last summer I thought it was the heat that made my computer unstable. Right now, the heatsink (of the videocard) isn''t even warm yet my computer still reboots when playing Warcraft III. I used a crappy video card last summer and it worked OK, even when playing Warcraft III under extreme summer heat. So I suspect the mobo doesn''t like this video card. Since both of the motherboard and the videocard are quite old (Asus A7A266 and GF4MX440), I think about upgrading them. Upgrading the mobo might take more work since I need to unplug everything, and perhaps Windows need to be reinstalled if I want it clean. Upgrading the video card might take less work, but this is an old mobo and I don''t want to have another conflict. And I can''t upgrade both since I am poor. So, which one do you recommend? Got recommendation which videocard/mobo to buy that a poor guy like me can afford (< $99)?
