First game - What do you think?

My first serious project!
Please let me know what you think of it.
hmm not the games i play all the time, but well its not crashing :D, but you should do some things to make the game run smoother, i dont mean more frames, i mean constant frameflow, its currently sort of increased speed interchanging with normal speed (maybe tripplebuffer or something prerendering frames) and the controlling isnt very good, its very hard to get the desired effect on the little ship (its arcade isnt it?), oh and you should ''fire'' the sound composer , but for your first game it looks very good (IMHO)...

Hey, pretty neat
The game ran well on my P4 2.4 Ghz / Radeon 9800 Pro.
I especially like your title screen and some of the menu screens. They are well done, and I know that on a 1-man project, things like that are often overlooked. Heck, you even had an install program for the game. So kudos to you.
Heh you had missiles too which was nice. At first I thought all you get was those 2 wimpy guns, but then I got some powerup that gave me missiles and I was like sweeet! Missiles!

Thanks for the input!
What computer are you running on, T2K? I didn''t have the movement here run with the relation to frames (It''s my first game, I''m self taught, I didn''t know any better...). I tried to keep the frame rate constant to make up for it but that''s impossible I guess. Maybe I''ll fix that but it''ll take allot retuning :/
About the sound composer, that''d be me. I spend about 2 hours on the three songs inside the game and about 2 days on the intro music and boss music... I think it''s fair for the amount of time I spent on it.
Raj, thanks! Try getting a full powered up ship - It gets pretty fun..

oh, my sysspecs: Mobile Athlon XP 2000 (1,667Ghz), 256MB DDR Ram, Geforce 4 420Go (16MB+ i think), Touchpad @ max acceleration (works in other games...) display @ 60hz v-sync always on, ...

Controls seemed a bit loose -- it was hard to actually hit anything accurately. This might have to do with framerate, I''m not sure. In any case, it DID run and was overall, well done. I wish I could say *I* completed a project
Very well put together, good graphics (cause we all know how much freeware graphics can stink) and seems to work as it should. The problem is the same as everyone else is saying: Its somewhat hard to control, acceleration and deceleration rates in the movement of the spaceship are too low, unless it''s just running slow on my computer, but the way the game plays I suspect the problem would still be there even if it moved faster.
You''re probably right - I kind of changed the moving scheme from too slow (Because my friends were complaining) to too fast, and didn''t show it to anybody, and ofcourse play testing it every day got me completely used to it.
And thinking of it, I don''t think I changed the deceleration speed at all, or not enough.
The graphics and the music, it''s amazing how fast I put those two together.. I am kind of happy with the graphics (Even though the spaceship''s art is so different from anything else because originally it was designed to transform to a robot) but the music is 20% done songs, written in a program I just learned, which is probably very noticable.

I don''t know why people didn''t like the music...I thought it was really good in its old-school MIDI way; made me think of playing Hector or Lifeforce on the NES. Good game. I would cut back glide your ship undergoes after you stop pressing an arrow key by about 90%, to make it easier to control. As it is, dodging little missiles and things are not on :-)
