Visual Studio MSDN (Visual C++)
Just out of curiosity has anyone here ever sat down and read the MSDN to learn the language?
I have some experience but need more foundation, so I started to read the MSDN and there are a ton of very cool things but I was curious if any of you had done the same.

MSDN is great for a reference, but I never used it to really learn...
If you code it, they will come...

I agree. MSDN is really cool, but i also did not use it to learn. I''ve read "The C++ programming language", "Inside Directx" and TONS of other guy''s sourcecodes...
(I think the DirectX7 Documentation is even cooler )

Actually, I took a class at my high scool I''ll be in AP Computer Science this coming year
But that class wasn''t enough, so I read some books and stuff on the Internet to fill in the gaps (we didn''t even get to classes in that class; ironic, huh? )

Thank you all for your responses, I guess I am going to have to pick up a book and begin. I have some knowledge of c++ but just very little so it''s hardt to build a mountain when you only have a little dirt.
Thanks again!

Still got that faithful Petzold book on the side of my computer along with the DirectX SDK docs. As for the C/C++, I learn from the teach yourself serie (Herbert Schildt). The TY serie is pretty good to learn the basic of a language, nothing more. If you want to get on some hardcore coding in C/C++, go thru the Stroustrup book; it is awesome (tough but good, dont give up).
I never actually read any book about how Visual studio works, just kinda figured it out by myself I guess. I did read alot thru the MSN library though, mainly the VB section. Kinda fun and easy to use. Anyway, that is about it=)
Genre.
PS: Bought the Inside direct3D book when it came out; did not really like it. But the Lamothe book is kinda good though=) Really waiting for that second book.
