I am completely new to recording/composing music on the computer. I was wondering if I could get some suggestions on where to start. For example: a list of usefull webpages, some free/shareware software for starting out, some good pay software for experienced users. I have a midi keyboard, two guitars, and a midi in on my PoS soundcard. Oh yeah, what kind of soundcard is good for input/output of midi? Maybe all these responses should go in the FAQ list too.

Usefull sites:
http://www.midi.com/
http://thrax.box.sk/
http://www.intermusic.com/

Everyone has different opinions on what software is the best.
Try out some shareware programs and see what floats your boat.
( I swear by Sonic Foundry Vegas and Sound Forge myself)

As for sound cards...I have a Sound Blaster Live! Platinum and I love it..
